2007 Staff Members

 

Will HaynieExecutive Director, J. William Haynie

A graduate of The Citadel, Will has held the positions of Director of the Alumni Annual Fund at The Citadel Foundation and Executive Director of the Educational Foundation at Blue Ridge Community College in western North Carolina.  As the Executive Director of the Land Trust, Will brings with him an extensive background in fund raising, nonprofit management, and public relations.

 



Director of Land Protection, Lewis H. HayLewis

Landowner, easement donor, former President of the Board of Trustees of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust, Lewis and his family have been farming on the sea islands south of Charleston for generations.  His educational background includes a masters degree in English from the University of South Carolina.  As Chairman of the Wadmalaw Island Land Planning Committee, Lewis spearheaded the development and passage of the most comprehensive and progressive land use plan in the state.

 

 

 

Stewardship Coordinator, Anna C. NygaardAnna

Anna is a graduate of the Master of Forestry program at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, which emphasizes forest ecology and the ecological management of forest ecosystems.  She previously worked as a forester for Louisiana-Pacific Corporation and was responsible for assisting in the sustainable management of approximately 60,000 acres of woodlands in southeast Texas.  Anna brings much needed forestry expertise to the Conservation Program of the Land Trust.

 


 

Development Director, Tina Edwards Mayland

Tina

Tina spent 30 years in high tech marketing/sales before returning to her native Charleston to join the land trust as Director of Development. She was VP of Marketing at AT&T in N.J. and VP of Marketing for D.C.-based Savvis Communications, a global internet services provider, which she helped take public. Prior to that, Tina spent 10 years at Sprint where she held a variety of positions, including General Manager of the Video Conferencing Division. She was also Director of Marketing Services for Scientific-Atlanta. Tina holds an M.B.A. from Emory University and a B.A. in Communications from the University of Georgia.

 

Nancy DewittFinance & Administrative Coordinator, Nancy C. DeWitt

Nancy attended Mary Washington College in Virginia and has an extensive background in real estate.  As the Finance and Administrative Coordinator for the Land Trust, she not only oversees the general functioning of the office, but also maintains all financial records, including budget, payroll and expenses.  Nancy works closely with the Treasurer of the Land Trust.

 

 

Conservation Planner, Lisa W. Shealy

Lisa A Wilson

Lisa is a graduate of the Masters of Environmental Studies (MES) Program at the College of Charleston. She received bachelors of science in Biology and Ecology from University of Georgia.   She is proficient in such computer mapping technologies as GPS and ArcGIS. Previously she has worked as a Research Assistant for College of Charleston/USFS Center for Forested Wetlands, GPS Field Technician for Gwinnett Co. Dept. of Public Utilities, and as a Compliance Inspector for SCDHEC Office of Coastal Resource Management. Lisa is responsible for all mapping and documentation of the properties.

 

Brian HeddenDevelopment Associate, Brian M. Hedden

Brian has lived in Charleston for over 25 years and has been involved with non-profit and volunteer organizations all of his life. He is a former Blackbaud employee where he was trained in the use of Blackbaud's The Raiser's Edge fund raising software for non-profits. Prior to joining the Land Trust staff, Brian assisted in a $32 million capital campaign for another local non-profit organization and he served as a Recovery Data Analyst in the Cost Recovery Department for CIGNA Healthcare.
