South Carolina Landscaping Mapping Project

The S.C. Landscape Mapping Project was a cooperative project among conservation groups, industry and private landowners to identify and map the most ecologically significant areas in the state and to develop a strategy for their conservation. Leading ecologists, foresters, botanists, ornithologists, natural historians and wildlife biologists from across the state gathered to map areas considered critical to the protection of South Carolina’s abundant natural diversity. These “critical areas” have been translated into the following map, which will form the basis for planning and coordinating future land conservation efforts. Along with a full color booklet describing the value of biodiversity to South Carolina, the map has been distributed statewide. To request a copy of the map and booklet contact Christie Renken at christiem@scccl.org.

SCLMP partners are: ACE Basin Focus Area Task Force; Audubon Society of S.C.; Ducks Unlimited, Inc.; Lowcountry Open Land Trust; South Carolina Coastal Conservation League; The Nature Conservancy of S.C.; MeadWestvaco.
