A natural regenerated longleaf pine in a recently burned forest.  The longleaf pine is fire resistant and benefits from prescribed fires.

Pitcher plants, a protected species of carnivorous plants. In the U.S., pitcher plants have declined drastically due to loss of habitat.

A mature stand of longleaf pines exceeding 100 years of age at Brosnan Forest. Norfolk Southern granted a conservation easement on 12,488 acres of its Brosnan Forest timber and wildlife preserve near Dorchester, S.C., 35 miles northwest of Charleston, S.C. This easement is the largest ever by a corporation in South Carolina.

Cypress trees at Brosnan Forest. Located a short distance away is Beidler Forest, a globally recognized old-growth swamp forest and a registered National Natural Landmark.
